The Guyana Police Force (GPF) says it is seeking the assistance of members of the public “in identifying a male who was shot and killed by a licenced firearm holder on 2016-11-02, at Diamond Housing Scheme, EBD. The body is presently at the Lyken’s Funeral Home.”
The Police had issued a statement yesterday confirming an earlier Inews report that one of two armed bandits was shot and killed by a licenced firearm holder, as they attempted to break into his 5th Avenue Diamond Housing Scheme, home.
The Police in their investigations had said that the shooter, a 38-year-old miner, was awoken by a loud noise coming from the lower flat of his house, and upon investigating saw two males, one armed with a handgun, attempting to gain entry into a southern door.
“He made an alarm and during this process, discharged his firearm in the bandits’ direction, hitting one of them who fell, whilst his accomplice with the firearm managed to scale the fenced yard and escaped,” said the GPF.
The Police also said that the matter was reported and a mobile patrol rushed the shot bandit to the Diamond Diagnostic Hospital where he was pronounced Dead On Arrival from the two suspected gunshot wounds to his neck.
Anyone with information that may lead to his identification is asked to contact the police on telephone numbers 225-6411, 226-1369, 227-2128, 226-7065, 226-2603, 911 or the nearest Police Station. He was clad in a ¾ pants and a black vest tied around his neck.
