Police are now hunting a driver who reportedly struck down a 60-year-old security officer- attached to the Movie Towne Complex construction site- while she was in the process of crossing the East Coast Demerara roadway at Turkeyen on Tuesday evening.
Dead is Mona London.
Based on information received, the woman had just clocked out of her shift at about 19:00h and was about to cross the road with a colleague, when a dark SUV (with unknown licence plates) reportedly slammed into her.
London was thrown several feet away and was seen bleeding from her mouth and head.
However, the driver of the vehicle allegedly fled the scene, within moments of the accident.
The sexagenarian was subsequently pronounced dead at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
INews understands that the particular area where the now deceased woman was attempting to cross has no street lights.
