[www.inewsguyana.com] – New information reaching iNews surrounding the drama on Wednesday morning [September 03] that led to the shooting of Constable Leroy English at Eccles, East Bank Demerara revealed that Brazilian National – Euclid DaSilva – who was deported from Guyana in 2012 and mysteriously found his way back into this country, has being paying members of the Guyana Police Force to provide protection to him and his family.
A car, which was being driven by DaSilva’s son on Wednesday, was being chased by police ranks, when English was shot twice by a member of the Guyana Police Force, who mistook him for a bandit.
iNews in speaking to persons who are close to both the businessman and the police officers has been able to confirm that when the shooting occurred, a police rank was in the car with DaSilva’s son during the high speed chase.
iNews was reliably informed that the younger DaSilva telephoned his father, informing him that men were chasing his vehicle. The businessman then informed his security detail, which included members of the Guyana Police Force, who then intercepted the younger DaSilva and the ranks chasing him at Eccles.
However, the ranks [all in plain clothes] were not familiar with English, who is stationed on the West Bank of Demerara and who was also dressed in plain clothes.
As such, they shot him, thinking he was a bandit. English is hospitalized while the matter is engaging the attention of the Police Office for Professional Responsibility.
You deporting Brazilians? I have some Guyanese you should deport, Granger, Ramotar, heck, all members of PPP, APNU & PNC send them packing and start afresh.
How can this Brazilian be described as a businessman, lives in Guyana, receives privately paid police protection but the Police Commissioner and Home Affairs Minister don’t know? Where have we heard or read before of police being hired by criminal elements? And you thought the police force was reformed, according to Rohee!
