[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Traffic Department (TD) of the Guyana Police Force, the National Road Safety Council (NRSC) and the youth arm of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church embarked on a massive road safety awareness project on Friday, March 06 in the North Ruimveldt area.
The TD under the leadership of Superintendent Ian Amsterdam and the NRSC under its Chairman Shahab Hack undertook the project which saw the repainting of several pedestrian crossings.
Traffic Chief Amsterdam said the initiative taken by the youths is a welcomed one particularly since the Force is working to raise awareness and encourage involvement in the promotion of road safety.
He said police force welcomes with open arms, partners who wish to assist in this regard.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the National Road Safety Council commended the cooperation between the entities, as he noted that the initiative is one in the right direction which aims at ensuring that lives are preserved.
He called on similar organizations to adopt the approach of the young people from the church and assist in activities that will make the country’s roadways much safer.
