Marlon Jeffery aka “Melvor Jeffery” called “Buck” is wanted by the police for escaping lawful custody from the Georgetown Public Hospital on 2017-07-19.
According to the police he was held for possession of firearm and ammunition and two counts of discharging a loaded firearm.
Inews had previously reported that Jeffery who was being treated at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) for a gunshot wound to his back, and was under police guard, managed to escape on Wednesday morning.
Based on information received, Jeffery was arrested following an exchange of gunfire with him and police last week. As such, he sustained an injury to his back, and underwent surgery.
Inews was told that around 02:00hrs, on Wednesday, the police officer who was supposed to be guarding the wanted man fell asleep.
Jeffery reportedly used this opportunity to flee.
Minister of Public Security, Khemraj Ramjattan has since described the situation as an “embarrassing” one.
