[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Guyana Police Force says it is investigating allegations of a corrupt transaction involving a policewoman at the Coven John Police Station, East Coast Demerara who was investigating the alleged rape of a 15 year old girl.
The investigation is being headed by the Police Office of Professional Responsibility.
The Police Force issued a media statement following an article which appeared in the Kaieteur News, stating that the female police constable was recorded suggesting that the victim collect a $900,000 settlement, while she would keep $200,000 for herself.
In the recording, which is in the possession of the newspaper, the rank also suggested that her ‘cut’ be increased to $300,000 if the settlement increases.
The case of the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl by the son of a prominent public official continues to unravel as investigations continue.
