Three prisoners on Tuesday evening escaped from the Golden Grove/Diamond Police Station but one escapee has since been recaptured.
Police this morning confirmed that they were still hunting the two other men who escaped from their lawful custody.
The men have been identified as Derrol James, 22, of Lot 131 Middle Walk, Buxton, East Coast Demerara, Ivre Hooper,25, of James Street, Albouystown, Georgetown and Wayne Gilbert, 25, of West La Penitence.
Last evening, the father of Gilbert handed him over to the police after he had turned up at his house seeking refuge.
He is likely to be charged today after being accused of murdering Rawle Rodrigues back in January of this year at Stabroek Square.
Inews has confirmed that a number of road blocks and search teams have been dispatched to ascertain the whereabouts of the remaining escapees who are considered dangerous.
The prisoners had escaped by drilling a hole in the wall of their cell. The junior rank on duty remains under close arrest.
Investigations are continuing.
