Police say they are aggressively pursuing an eighteen year old Plantation Best, WCD resident, who allegedly clubbed Deonarine Manbodh, 40 years, of 668 Plantation Best, WCD, about his body and head with a cricket bat on October 20 last, resulting in his death at the Intensive Care Unit, Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, last night.
According to the Police, investigations have revealed that the victim and the suspect had an altercation over a female relative of the victim, which resulted in a heated argument; during that process, the suspect who was armed with a cricket bat, dealt several lashes to victim’s head and body and fled the scene.
The victim was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital in a semi-conscious condition and was referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he was admitted and subsequently fell into a coma. He was later transferred to the Intensive Care Unit, where he died about 20:30 hrs last night.
A post-mortem examination was done today and the cause of death was given as brain haemorrhage, compounded by blunt trauma to the head.
