[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Guyana Police Force has recorded a 5% drop in total serious crimes this year when compared to last year.
The total number of reports of serious crimes made between January 01 and May 31, 2014, was 1,605 compared to 1,523 for the same period in 2013.
According to the Police Force, the decrease occurred even though there were increases in four of the serious crimes monitored. Among the serious crimes policed by the Force are murder, robbery under arms, robbery with violence, robbery with aggravation, larceny from the person, break and enter and larceny, burglary, rape, and kidnapping.
Statistics show that that there were 316 robbery underarms cases with the use of a firearm, while there were 157 reports of robbery underarms with the use of other instruments.
I do not think the media should post pictures of police officers up for display. These are the guys who are underpaid to protect us. No matter if they are bad or good disclosing their identities is not right. But then again that’s just my personal opinion.
