[www.inewsguyana.com] – Police have arrested a man they suspect to be an accomplice in Tuesday night’s deadly shooting in East Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
Police sources told iNews on Thursday that the man is believed to have been the driver who transported the shooter to and from the scene.
The suspect was identified as Colwyn Johnson also called ‘Gunbutt’.
On Tuesday night, 36 – year – old Dexter Griffith was killed when a lone gunman walked up to him and discharged several rounds in his direction.
He was hit to his head, chest and legs and pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Investigators have recovered several 9mm spent shells from the scene and an investigation is currently underway.
Family members were left in shock when they received the news that the father and community footballer was killed.
However, police sources claim that Griffith had several police incidents in the past and is reportedly connected to the criminal underworld.
