[www.inewsguyana.com] – The People’s National Congress Reform (PNC/R) says it views remarks made by the General Secretary of the incumbent People’s Progressive Party (PPP) which sought to suggest that Opposition Leader David Granger was involved in elections rigging and political suppression during his tenure in the Guyana Defense Force (GDF) as both slanderous and libelous.
Rohee during a press conference on Tuesday (February 25) while recalling a recent meeting between the Army Chief and Granger had said “I hope he would have informed of his hijacking of ballot boxes while a member of the army top brass and his involvement or non-involvement in the cold blooded murder of two Guyanese on the Corentyne during the seizure of ballot boxes.”
To this end, the PNCR in a statement said it “strongly condemns the statements. The PNCR dismiss as an outright lie the General Secretary’s scandalous and libelous assertion regarding the Opposition Leader ‘s involvement in high-jacking ballot boxes and the death of two Guyanese during the 1973 General Elections.”
In November 2011 Brigadier Granger stated; “I was not the commander of the Guyana Defence Force (in 1973). I was not at the scene of any shooting. I never shot anyone.”
Further, the Party says it views as ‘gutter politics’ by the PPP as an attempt to divert the attention of the people of Guyana from the Party’s incompetence and lack of vision for the nation and the plight and struggles of the average working men and women.
The PNC/R called attention to what it said was fact that while Rohee peddles his ‘disinformation and propaganda’ the vital Security Sector which is his remits cries out for competent leadership.
In counter allegations the PNCR said “under Rohee’s watch Guyana has digressed to a haven for Narco- Traffickers and Gun –runners and all forms of criminality. There is one armed robbery every twelve hours in Guyana. Under Rohee and the PPP administration the Italian and Mexican Mafia have transformed Guyana into a transshipment point for narcotics shipments to North America, Europe and Africa.”
The party further stated that there were 154 murders in 2013, an 11% increase.
“Most of these murders remain unsolved; there was a 7% increase in serious crimes, guns and drugs freely cross our borders, yet Clement Rohee says that there is no Security Crisis in Guyana, and seemingly have enough time to conduct a campaign of lies and disinformation against the leadership of APNU.”
The PNCR concluded that it will not be fooled and distracted by the ‘shenanigans’ of Rohee. It is their view that Rohee’s antics prove beyond a doubt that there is a crisis of leadership in the PPP.
rohee will fall on his own sword in the not too distant future!
this man puts the face on government’s incompetence and has the gall to be spreading lies and disinformation. you can sense desperation in this chap as he sits in an office he clearly isn’t qualified for.
