[www.inewsguyana.com] – Monitoring and evaluation of the Berbice Regional Health Authority [BRHA] continued on Friday with another health facility day in Region six.
Performance over the past twelve months in health care delivery by the BRHA received a positive nod by the one hundred plus attendees.
The positive review by residents is a marked achievement since this facility underperformed in the years leading up to 2012. This disclosure was made by Chief Executive Officer of the BRHA, Dr. Vishwa Mahadeo in the feature address.
He noted that it was refreshing to receive a positive feedback from health service seekers on the performance of the facility which serves over 6,000 residents residing between Whim and Bloomfield on the Corentyne.
Senior Health Visitor Terry Davis under whose direct supervision health centres and post falls, in a brief overview shared similar sentiments and also commended the staff for raising the level of output at Whim.
The high level of motivation and support provided to Whim Health Centre staff was reflected in the Health Centre Report by the Nurse-in-charge, Carol Benn [midwife] when she boldly declared that in 2015 the Whim Health Centre will be among those vying for the prestigious Best Health Centre Award. This award was presented to the Siparuta Health Centre at the 11th Annual Award Ceremony hosted by the BRHA in February.
The Whim Health Centre is located within the compound of the Community Centre and Chairperson of the Management Committee Lorna Alexander announced that the facility has been incorporated into the health plan for that community.
Alexander announced that to promote healthy lifestyle and the need for regular exercise, the health centre will take advantage of the new outfield of the Community Centre. Among the plans is a day of sports.
The Whim Health Centre received addition to its structure with the construction of a shed and with concrete floor which is used as a waiting area.
