[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Preliminary Inquiry (PI) into the murder of female cab driver, Savitri ‘Maya’ Parma commenced yesterday (Monday, June 02) at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
Sylvester ‘Rambo’ Bristol is charged with the woman’s murder, which occurred sometime between February 15 – 16 at Dakara Creek, Linden /Soesdyke Highway.
Parma, a mother of two, was reportedly raped and strangled with a bootlace several hours before her body was discovered in the wee hours of February 16.
While Parma’s body was reportedly found face down with her head “pressed to the earth,” her son was found sleeping in the rear seat of her abandoned taxi hours later by her husband who decided to search for his wife.
The case is being heard by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and prosecuted by Corporal Bharat Mangru. Several witnesses testified, including the dead woman’s husband and son.
The PI will continue today, Tuesday June 03.
