[www.inewsguyana.com] – Residents of Peter’s Hall, East Bank Demerara were flooded out last evening (Wednesday, October 09) after the door of the sluice in their community collapsed.
Chief Executive Officer of the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority, Lionel Wordsworth, told iNews during a telephone interview that his office is working feverishly to remedy the situation.
He explained that following the failure of the sluice door, the NDIA worked throughout the night to provide an alternative so that residents would no longer be flooded.
According to Wordsworth, the NDIA is now looking at sealing off the Koker before the next high tide this afternoon. He explained that the tide has receded and that residents are no longer flooded.
With all the trees being cut down and logs being exported, why is a koker collapsing in 2014 and causing damages and possible health problems?
