[www.inewsguyana.com] – A stunning performance from Robin Persaud led to him taking the pole position in Saturday’s Universal Auto and General Supplies 11 race program’s feature race.
Persaud, who has been silently lying in wait for his striking chance, left the crowd in awe as powered home in the 35 lap school boys and invitational race in a time of one hour, 16 minutes, 17.18 seconds.
In the process, he demoted Marlon Williams to second Raynauth Jeffrey to third, Mario King finished fourth while Albert Philander inched Michael Anthony for the fifth spot.
However, during the awarding of the prime prizes Persaud, who led from flag to flag, did not secure any.
Williams, Jeffrey and Godfrey Pollydore secured two each while the other two went equally to Hamzah Eastman and Christopher Holder.
However, Persaud left nothing to chance during the dying stages, pulling away from the rest of the pack like a cheetah, blazing to a comfortable victory in (01h: 16m: 17.18s).
Other winners on the day included Avish Ramlakhan in 12-14 Boys and division Stephen Fernandes in the Under-50, Linden Blackman in the Over-50 and Anthony Fariah in the Over-60 events.
