[www.inewsguyana.com] – Robin Persaud will seek to defend his title in this year’s Cheddi Jagan three-stage memorial cycling road race title on Sunday, March 2 when the event leaves the blocks.
Persaud, who won last year’s race in a time of one hour, 56 minutes, 44.24 seconds will be with the rest of the pack when the event rolls off.
The event will commence in front of the Wales Police Station from 08:00 hours before it proceeds to Bushy Park, Parika, and returns to Schoonard for the finish.
The regular riders will pedal a total of 50 miles with the veteran, mountain bikers and female cyclists will only go to the Uitvlugt community centre on the upward journey and return to Schoonard for the finish.
The first six finishers in the open category, three juniors, veterans and mountain bikers as well as the first rider over the age of 60 to cross the line will be given prizes.
The Berbice leg of the event is set for March 9 and the Essequibo road race is on March 23.
