[www.inewsguyana.com] – Four hundred metres sprinter and overseas based Guyanese Stephan James finished seventh in his 400 metres final at the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) Festival in Mexico last weekend; being the closest Guyanese to a medal at the games.
James, just off a reasonable Commonwealth Games performance and tends to run faster in the heats than the finals, did just that by recording a personal record in the heat of 46.18s before going onto the final to run 46.5s in the final.
Meanwhile, the only female on the team, Natrena Hooper who performed in the women’s triple jump was unable to finish close to the top jumpers with a leap of 12.3 metres.
Sprinter, Elton Bollers clocked 10.84s in the men’s 100 metres and 21.63s in the 200 metres but did not move out of the preliminary rounds. The athletes returned home on Monday after the games concluded on Sunday.
