[www.inewsguyana.com] – With less than three days remaining before the close of the last claims and objections period before the May 11 General and Regional Elections, the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) is urging that persons ensure that they are on the lists and their particulars are correct.
According to the Chief Elections Officer (CEO) of GECOM, Keith Lowenfield it is important that persons take advantage of the window to get registrations and transfers done.
He said that since the commencement of the Claims and Objections period there have been over 6000 transactions done with over 3200 new registrations with the remainder being transfers.
In accordance with GECOM’s operational procedures, after the Claims and Objections Period it is required to produce the Revised List of Electors (RLE) which will also be available for public scrutiny.
GECOM officials confirmed that the RLE should be expected sometime around March 16. The RLE would be posted for 21 days and thereafter, the Official List of Electors (OLE) with all of the persons registered to vote would be published.
Using that formula it is decipherable that the Official List of Electors would be published sometime early May. It was revealed that there are some 38,000 identification cards available for pick up at local GECOM offices.
