[www.inewsguyana.com] – The People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) is still recovering from the non – enactment of the Anti – Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (Amendment) Bill.
At the Party’s weekly press conference on Monday morning (November 11), Civic Member, Juan Edghill believes that the combined Opposition – A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) and the Alliance for Change (AFC) – is using their one seat majority to “bully” the government in the National Assembly.
“The callous heckling also displayed a naked attempt to bully the government We cannot have the politics of bullyism in the August House. The National Assembly is not a place for bullyism. It’s not using your one seat majority to bully and have your way,” Edghill told the news conference.
He further noted that the action of the political Opposition is a betrayal of “monumental proportions” that will have serious and adverse effects on the nation.
Recently, President Donald Ramotar announced that his government is forced to reconsider its future relationship with the political opposition, given their non – support for the Bill.
Guyana is now on the verge of being blacklisted by the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force given the fact that the Bill was not passed in the House.
