A Police Constable has reportedly assaulted a 24-year-old man of Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara (WBD) whilst he was off-duty.
Reports are that Kester Norville, a porter, was standing at Middle Road, Pouderoyen in front of his house when he observed the cop dealt a friend a lash to his face with a bottle.
The incident occurred at around 19:40hrs on Sunday.
According to the victim, as a result of what had transpired, he intervened with a view of setting peace among the suspect and his friend.
However, the cop reportedly became annoyed and dealt him several lashes about his head and body with the bottle, causing him to receive injuries to his head and hands. He was escorted to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was treated and sent away.
Police said the suspect was subsequently contacted and had to be escorted to the West Demerara Regional Hospital due to injuires he too had received about his body.
Investigations are ongoing.
