A juvenile was yesterday apprehended at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) after a quantity of cocaine was unearthed in the handle of her suitcase.
Reports are that the young girl was scheduled to board a flight destined for the John F Kennedy (JFK) International Airport, New York, when the discovery was made.She is presently in police custody assisting with investigations.
Meanwhile, one man has also been taken into police custody and is being grilled by law enforcement officials about the cocaine.
It is alleged that he was the individual who gave the child the cocaine to hide in her luggage to ensure it was transported to the US.
