[www.inewsguyana.com] – Last weekend’s national novices, juniors and sub junior championship was hailed as a success by the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPF).
During an invited comment on the event, GAPF’s Public Relations Officer, Paul Adams said that the lift was hailed as a success based on the amount of lifters present, which was over 24.
According to Adams, the crowd support for the event was astounding for that of a beginner’s tournament and as such thanked them for coming out. Meanwhile, he also thanked the lifters who participated in the event for their prompt response time to competition as well as their pre – registration.
According to Adams, the level of judging was also of a quality standard. Among the sponsors were Fitness Express, Lucozade brand and the Footsteps Mega Mall.
Roger Callender carted off the best overall lifter in the novice category while Kevin Brijlall was adjudged the junior and sub-junior overall champion.
Andrea Smith of Body Max gym was the top overall novice female in the fitness express and Lucozade sponsored competition.
Other winners included Cloe Hunter in the 52kg, Telisha Roland stood alone in the 84+kg class, and Timothy Mc Andrew.
