An outing turned tragic for a Georgetown family after an 18-year-old drowned at a private resort on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway.
The dead young man has been identified as Ronaldo Gomes of Lot 8 Norton Street, Wortmanville, Georgetown.
According to information received, the teenager went to the creek with his uncle, a bus owner who was hired to transport some persons to the private resort.
While details surrounding the incident remain sketchy, inews was told that as the group was getting ready to leave, persons realised Gomes was missing. Upon searching and making enquiries, they were informed that while swimming, the water became rough and the teen ventured out to the deep end.
The uncle was reportedly told that the teen went beyond the ropes and was allegedly hit by a boat. A search was then conducted, and his body was found floating. Investigations are ongoing.
