A 36-year-old North West District resident is expected to be arraigned at the Georgetown Magistrates Courts soon for the alleged murder of his reputed wife on Sunday last at the home they shared in Region 1.
Based on information received, the suspect, of Oronoque, Port Kaituma, North West District allegedly murdered the 37-year-old woman at about 20:52hrs on Sunday.
According to Police sources, at about 16:00hrs on the day in question, the woman visited the Water Front in Port Kaituma and began imbibing with some friends.
However, after it became late and she did not return, the suspect reportedly became annoyed and went in search of her. It was at this point that he found her dancing with another man. This reportedly pushed him over the edge and he allegedly began physically abusing her, which led to the woman collapsing.
In an unconscious state, the victim was subsequently rushed to the Port Kaituma Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The suspect then reported the matter at the Port Kaituma Police Station and turned himself in.
The post mortem examination revealed that the woman died as a result of brain hemorrhage due to blunt trauma.
