Adrian Roberson, a 23-year-old resident of North West District in Region One (Barima-Waini) was on Monday taken before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court charged with attempted murder.
He was not required to plea to the indictable charge, which stated that on January 12 at Diamond, East Bank Demerara, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded the Virtual Complainant (VC), Harilall Best, with intent to commit murder.
While the facts surrounding the charge were not disclosed in Court, Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones related that the medical report for the VC is still outstanding.
The Prosecutor also objected to bail, stating that the accused gave the Police a different address from the one given to the court. As such, the Prosecutor stated that it is unlikely the accused would return to Court once granted bail.
Magistrate McLennan remanded the man to prison.
The case will continue at the Providence Magistrate’s Court on February 18.
