[www.inewsguyana.com] – North Georgetown [District 11] has started the process of defending their title by hosting their Primary Schools Inter Schools Championships on Wednesday at the Police Sports Club Ground Eve Leary.
Yesenia Andrews was a standout athlete at the event blowing her competition away especially in the girl’s under-12 100 metres while Tyreese Glasgow created a major upset in the boy’s under-12 100 metres by defeating favourite Sherwin Sampson.
Meanwhile, District Leader, Mariska Williams shared her thoughts on the day’s activity.
“Well we have seen some talent but we were not blown away we had a few upsets but it was good day for the primary schools,” Williams told iNews Sport.
Further, Williams was positive of the team’s ability to retain the title. “We have no doubt that we can, we never go into the event with any doubts and believe that we will retain the title,” Williams stressed.
The event will continue today with cycling action and next week with more track and field as the secondary schools will take the track from Tuesday.
