Night Shelter resident remanded for abusing, threatening other dwellers

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A resident of the East La Penitence Night Shelter, charged with using abusive and threatening language to fellow residents was ordered to post a total of $40,000 bail on Friday, April 25.

Forty – Eight – year – old Roy Johnson appeared before Magistrate Geeta Chandan-Edmond in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty to four charges.

Particulars of the first two charges alleged that on April 23 at the East La Penitence Night Shelter he made use of abusive language and threatened to chop Harry Gibson.

For the other two offences, he also denied the allegations which detailed that on the same day at the Shelter, he made use of abusive and threatening language to Ricardo February.

Police Prosecutor Jomo Nichols did not object to bail and Johnson was ordered to post $10,000 on each charge. He is scheduled to reappear in Court on May 6.
