[www.inewsguyana.com] – A stunning 6th wicket collaboration between Brendon McCullum and Luke Ronchi handed New Zealand the lead in the two match T20 Series against the West Indies on Saturday morning.
The New Zealand duo contributed an 85 run stand, leading the home side to an 81 run win. Batting first, the hosts posted an imposing 189 for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs thanks to 60 and 48 from Mc Cullum and Ronchi respectively.
Tino Best finished with 4-30 from four overs while Nikita Miller had 2-26 from three overs. In their batting innings, the West Indies were held up at 108-8 after 20 overs.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Andre Fletcher, who joined the team this week, was West Indies’ highest scorer with 23. Fletcher joined Johnson Charles (16) following the dismissal of Lendl Simmons without scoring.
Nikita Miller and Samuel Badree batted out the West Indies’ innings, finishing on 15 and 14 respectively.
The two teams wrap up the two-match T20I series on Wednesday in Wellington.
