[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Guyana Youth Development Association (GUYDA) announced that the 13th Sitting of the National Youth Parliament will be held on Wednesday November 6, at the Guyana International Conference Centre.
The event this year will see scores of young people vying for the opportunity to have their voices heard about national issues that are affecting the growth and development of the country as well as its youth.
The Committee is formally inviting Expressions of Interest from all interested participants on or before Saturday, October 12, 2013. Persons are asked to send their name, contact numbers and a short paragraph on why they should be a part of the 2013 sitting of the National Youth Parliament to the following email addresses:

National Youth Parliament had its first sitting in 1999 and since then, the Executive committee has been working on developing and maintaining NYP in Guyana.
The Committee hopes that through this process they can continue to help young people to build patience, tolerance towards each other, discipline and respect for each other, based on positions and on arguments.
The training exercise has been further intensified and upgraded to adapt to today’s ever changing society, training exercise involves research, learning parliamentary ethics and learning how to socialize with each other.
There are a number of activities leading up to the sitting which will include a social dinner and a fundraising activity that is aimed at teaching leadership and responsibility to the participants.
Additionally, the Executive Committee of GUYDA held its Annual General Meeting on September 9and one of the decisions coming out of that meeting as regards to NYP 2013 is the selection of the Committee that will manage and execute the Sittings for the next two years.
Among new faces added to the body are National Youth Advocate and Journalist Mr Michael Younge who is now the Training Facilitator, University of Guyana Law Student and ex- youth parliamentarian Mr. Keoma Griffith who is the new Deputy Clerk of the National Youth Parliament, Ex-youth Parliamentarian Mr. Juan Edghill will now serve as the Deputy Speaker of the National Youth Parliament while Mrs. Dana Waithe has been confirmed as the Speaker of the National Youth Parliament.
Mr. Kwame Mc Coy remains the Executive Director/Chairman while Ms. Christine Bailey retained her post as the Coordinator. Mr. Kevin Fogenay was appointed General Secretary, Mr. Nigel Shurland is retained as Finance Director and Mr. Hardatt Ramdass as Liaison Officer.
