[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 23 – year – old man who is known to many as “nasty man” and who is accused of two counts of murder along with the possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition, was on Wednesday placed before City Magistrate Fabayo Azore to answer to the offences.
It is alleged that Dellon Henry of Houston, East Bank Demerara on Tuesday September 29, at East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, he murdered Dexter Griffith.
Dellon Henry was not allowed to plead to the indictable charge.
However, it is also alleged that the accused, on October 4, 2015 at Agricola, East Bank Demerara had in his possession one .38 Rossi pistol along with eight live rounds of ammunition all without being the holder of firearm license.
According to the facts of the Prosecution, the now deceased Dexter Griffith on the day in question at the said location about 19:30 hours was sitting on a chair at Genip Street, Ruimveldt when the accused walked towards him and fired several shots in his direction, fatally injuring him in the process.
The Prosecution in their description explained to the Court that Griffith after being shot managed to stand up and walked a short distance away in an attempt to escape from Henry but eventually fell unconscious to the ground, while his assailant escaped.
Public spirited persons near the scene of the crime eventually took him to a city hospital where he was later pronounced dead on arrival.
Dellon Henry, who boldly denied murdering Dexter Griffith, told the court that on the day in question and at the time of the murder he was at home with his mother and was nowhere near the scene of the crime.
Nonetheless, Henry was remanded to prison.
He will make his next court appearance on October 9, before Magistrate Ann McLennan.
