…employees beaten, cash and phone cards stolen
A man, who took off his clothes before entering a Corriverton gas station and stealing phone cards and cash, has been caught on camera.
The man made the attack at about 4:30h on Wednesday.
Reports are that the lone bandit without clothes, attacked and robbed Sukpaul Gas Station located in Corriverton, East Berbice Corentyne.
The man reportedly used a piece of wood as he approached the two attendants who were on duty at the time.
The two employees were beaten and then bound with a piece of cloth before being robbed.
Reports are that the employees were relived of an undisclosed sum of cash and a quantity of phone cards. The man then made good his escape.
However, the entire robbery was caught on CCTV camera.
After the incident was reported, the CCTV footage was reviewed and the suspect was identified.
Police later in the day went to a home in Corriverton where the suspect was arrested.
The man was also shown some of the footage, and later confessed to the crime.
He is currently in custody assisting with the investigation. (Andrew Carmichael)
