[www.inewsguyana.com] – The newly formed A Partnership for National Unity and Alliance For Change coalition on Saturday, February 28 held a workshop at the Oceanview Convention Centre to fine tune the regional campaign strategies and plans.
Delivering the opening address, APNU/AFC Prime Ministerial Candidate Moses Nagamootoo told the large gathering of Party officials that he is confident that APNU+AFC will win the May 11 General Elections and “secure Guyana from the precipice of disaster”.
A press release noted that he appealed to the representatives and officials from all ten administrative regions to “embody the new oneness of APNU+AFC” as they campaign across the country.
Nagamootoo, also the AFC Vice Chairman, said that the PPP has already begun to show signs of wanting to engage in a dirty campaign and he implored the delegates to “remain calm in the face of attack” but warned that APNU+AFC “cannot remain inactive in the face of distortion.”
According to the press release, the veteran politician said that the feedback he has gotten from being in the villages and the rural areas is that the APNU+AFC coalition has the PPP “bazoodee” and that “they are in a state of shock and panic which is causing them to make mistakes every day.”
The strategy and planning workshop was geared towards putting the finishing touches on the regional campaign strategies for each of the ten administrative regions while linking into the national campaign plan.
Nagamootoo reiterated that APNU+AFC campaign must not seek to match the PPP in dirty politics.
“We are not here for vengeance, we are not here to discriminate anyone, we are not here to practice nepotism, patronage or cronyism. We have to hold out the olive branch. We are the peacemakers, we are filled with magnanimity and in our home that is Guyana, there is room for all. All are aboard this express train that will lead Guyana forward under an APNU+AFC government,” Nagamootoo charged to resounding applause from the delegates.
Campaign Committee Co-Chairman Joeseph Harmon and Co-Chairpersons of the Campaign Communications Committee Cathy Hughes and Mark Archer also address the delegates while Amna Ally moderated the proceedings.
Also in attendance were Campaign Committee Co-Chairman Raphael Trotman, APNU parliamentarians Carl Greenidge, Volda Lawrence and Christopher Jones, AFC Leader Khemraj Ramjattan and AFC Chairman Nigel Hughes.
