Murdered Biker, Kirk Davis was yesterday (Saturday September 14) laid to rest, 11 days after being gunned down in front of his Eccles, East Bank Demerara home.
However, Police is yet to arrest the prime suspect in the murder, Randy Jagdeo, who is said to be hiding in neighboring Suriname.
Davis’ funeral brought out hundreds of people who lined the East Bank Corridor in the vicinity of the Demerara Harbor Bridge, Bagotstown.
Police officers were called out to ensure law and order was upheld and to ensure the smooth flow of vehicular traffic which had slowed to a crawl.
Police Commissioner (ag) Leroy Brummel earlier this week confirmed that Randy Jagdeo was sighted in Suriname. The Commissioner has also assured that efforts are afoot to have an arrest made soon.
“We have contacted our Surinamese counterparts” he said, adding that “we sent copies of his pictures; we are expecting very shortly that he will be apprehended.”
A wanted bulletin for Jagdeo was issued after a candlelight vigil was held outside the Brickdam Police Station by relatives and friends of Davis. This was six days after he was murdered. The now “on the run” Jagdeo is said to have shot Davis 16 times on September 3. The 30 -year – old was reportedly shot by the businessman because he was allegedly having an affair with his wife.
