[www.inewsguyana.com] – Ranks of the Guyana Police Force ‘C’ Division, East Coast Demerara are now breathing a sigh of relief after diligent investigative work resulted in the arrest of the prime suspect in relation to the murder of Akeem Yorrick of Plaisance Squatting Area, East Coast Demerara on August 05, 2015.
According to the police force, legal advice has already been sought from the Director of Public Prosecutions. The suspect was arrested on October 30, 2015.
iNews had reported that a group of residents confronted a man, whom they accused of being involved in an armed robbery, when during the ensuing altercation, the man discharged a round into the group of residents, fatally wounding Yorrick of Prince William Street, Plaisance, East Coast Demerara.
Yorrick, who was a mason, was shot while on his way to visit his girlfriend in Plaisance Backdam.
Meanwhile, it was noted that two other suspects, who were part of a three man gang that robbed Gansham Jorie and two family members of a motor car, cash and jewllery on October 29 at their Prospect, Mahaica home, were positively identified during an identification parade.
The vehicle, along with part of the booty, was recovered during police investigations and charges are to be instituted shortly.
