Police Commissioner (ag) Leroy Brummel has confirmed that Randy Jagdeo, the prime suspect in the shooting to death of well known biker, Kirk Davis has been sighted in neighboring Suriname.
The Commissioner has also assured that efforts are afoot to have an arrest made soon.
“We have contacted our Surinamese counterparts” he said, adding that “we sent copies of his pictures; we are expecting very shortly that he will be apprehended,” the Commissioner told reporters at a press conference today, Thursday September 13.
Mr. Brummel also expressed concern over the number of Guyanese who are currently serving time in jails in Suriname. He debunked claims that the police had delayed in issuing a wanted bulletin for Jagdeo, stating that “we were exploring all avenues to get Randy.”
A wanted bulletin for Jagdeo was issued after a candlelight vigil was held outside the Brickdam Police Station by relatives and friends of Davis. This was six days after he was murdered.
The now “on the run” Jagdeo is said to have shot Davis 16 times on September 3 in front his Eccles, East Bank Demerara home. The 30 -year – old was reportedly shot by the businessman because he was allegedly having an affair with his wife. Kirk Davis is expected to be laid to rest on Saturday September 14th, 2013.
