[www.inewsguyana.com] – After being on the run for five years, a man who reportedly murdered a gold miner, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Monday, December 28, 2015 charged with the crime.
Twenty-six – year old vendor, Seon Anthony Edwards of Diamond, East Bank Demerara was not required to plead o the indictable charge of murder which was read to him by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
The court heard that on September 20, 2010 he murdered Rawle Peters at the Cuyuni Landing, in the Essequibo River. Edwards, also known as ‘Rasta Man’ was arrested on December 22 in the vicinity of Regent and Hincks Streets, while selling bottled water.
The accused reportedly confessed to killing Peters during an argument after the deceased accused him of stealing a sum of money. The argument turned physical, during which the accused slashed the deceased in his abdomen with a chopper.
He was remanded to prison and the matter was transferred to the Bartica Magistrates’ Court for January 15, 2016.
