A number of staff members attached to museums across the country today (Tuesday) began participating in a workshop on digitization of archival records at the National Archives of Guyana on Homestretch Avenue D’ Urban Park, Georgetown.
Participants were drawn from the Walter Roth Museum of Anthropology, Museum of African Heritage, Guyana National Museum, the National Trust and the National Archives of Guyana.
In a brief comment to the media, Archivist Ms. Nadia Carter explained that the main aim of the workshop is to build capacity in the areas of digitization. She said that the new modern medium of digitization will allow for better access to information at the various museums.
Media personnel were given a tour and were able to observe how the process works.
This workshop is being made possible through an ongoing collaboration between the Governments of Guyana and Mexico entered into since 2015, and is facilitated by two visiting Mexican exports.
