An investigation has been launched into the fatal accident which occurred on Sunday, August 27, 2017, about 23:15hrs on Better Hope Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD), that resulted in the death of motorcyclist Cleon Perreira, 27, of 119 Middle Walk, Buxton, ECD.
According to the Police, their investigations revealed that motor car PMM 9206 driven by a 19-year-old resident of Montrose, ECD, was proceeding west along the southern carriageway of the road, when it suddenly turned north into the path of motorcycle CG 1872 which was proceeding in the opposite direction and collided. As a result, the motorcyclist fell onto the road surface and sustained injuries.
He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital in an unconscious state where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver, who was tested and found not to have had any alcohol in his breath, is in custody assisting with the investigation.
