[www.inewsguyana.com] – Public Relations Officer of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) Mitzy Campbell has confirmed that the lad, who was dropped off at the institution by police on September 4 has been claimed and is home safe with his mother at their Stewartville, West Coast Demerara home.
Campbell told iNews that the boy, who is believed to be 12 – years – old was picked up last week by his mother. She said the boy appeared to have mental issues and a social worker is working with him in that regard.
Meanwhile, when contacted by iNews, Director of the Child Care and Protection Agency (CCPA) Ann Greene said the agency is also working with the family, which is currently facing adversity.
She told iNews that the child was epileptic and was currently on medication. “It is not a happy situation… We are not satisfied with the family’s position” she said.
Greene explained that the boy’s mother had gone to the West Demerara Regional Hospital to deliver a baby, during which time the boy wandered off.
The boy was dropped off at the GPHC by a police patrol vehicle on Wednesday September 4 around 9:33h.
