[www.inewsguyana.com] – A woman and her two – year – old baby on Monday (Feburary 3) fell into an uncovered sewage manhole at Stabroek, Georgetown in the vicinity of KFC.
iNews understands that the cover was removed by employees of KFC and left unattended after workers were earlier trying remove fat and grease which had filled and was overflowing the system.
The woman was rescued by several public spirited citizens, while the hole remained uncovered several hours after. A wooden table was later placed over the hole.
It is not clear if the fast food outlet has a grease trap which is required by law, however several persons had gathered after the incident lamenting the state of the area with overflows on a daily basis.
