Yet another family is left pondering their next move, after a another fire this week – suspected to be of electrical origin- erupted at their La Jalousie, West Coast Demerara (WCD) home early Thursday morning.
Police “D” Division Commander, Leslie James confirmed that the fire began some time around 06:15hrs while a 33-year-old woman and her two children –ages 7 and 1- were home alone.
The mother and her two children managed to flee the burning two storey building unharmed, just before fire fighters arrived at the scene.
The blaze was subsequently controlled, leaving only the lower flat of the concrete structure standing.
A neighbour on the western side of the Lot 12 La Jalousie, West Coast Demerara home explained to police that she heard popping sounds coming from the burning building but did not pay heed. Her home was reportedly scorched along the side as a result of the blaze.
An investigation has since been launched.
This fire came on the heels of two others that occurred recently, for different reasons, leaving several persons homeless and one seriously injured.
