A security guard attached to MMC Security Service was today remanded to prison when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry charged with possession of a .32 tariff revolver and seven .32 live rounds of ammunition without being the holder of a license.
Julian Winter pleaded not guilty to both offences. It is alleged that on July 31 in Georgetown the accused had the unlicensed weapon and ammunition on his possession.
According the police prosecutor, on the day in question the accused was at a bar when he placed the weapon on the counter. The prosecutor said that a police rank was passing at the time and asked the accused if he had a license, to which the accused said no.
Based on the seriousness of the offence, the prosecutor objected to bail. Julian Winter is to return to court on August 05. [Royan Abrams]
