[www.inewsguyana.com] – The first day of action in the Suriname Annual Easter International Tournament held mixed fortunes for the Guyana Badminton Association’s Team.
Being contested at The Walter Amo Sports Hall in Paramaribo during this weekend, the event commenced yesterday with one of the Guyanese players moving into the second round, quarters and semi-finals on the opening day.
Those include Narayan & Priyanna Ramdhani, Jonathan Mangra, Ambika Ramraj, Krystal Peters, Hemraj Beharry & Ronald Chang Yuen.
In the under-15 boys singles Guyanese Hemraj Beharry lost to David Cheung 22-20, 21-15, while in the mixed doubles, Priyanna Ramdhani(guy) & Justin Kertotiko(sur) lost to the Surinamese duo of Tariq Sweet & Jogia Williams 21-16, 21-16
The under-19 boys singles saw Jonathan Mangra Defeat Surinames Ghalry Oemar 21-5, 21-12 while Guyanese Ronald Chang Yuen lost to Samuel Ricketts 21-2, 21-3.
In the girls singles department Krystal Peters of Guyana lost to Yuan Yang of Suriname 15-9, 15-11 while Ambika Ramraj got a walk over into the quarter-finals.
