[www.inewsguyana.com] –Tourism Minister (ag) Irfaan Ali managed to trigger an uproar and much heckling when he stated that the Ministers of the ruling People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) are of “high conduct.”
Ali made the comment during the budget debate on Monday, March 31 after being informed by the Speaker, Raphael Trotman that Trinidad’s Prime Minister Kamla Persad – Bissessar had fired her Tourism Minister.
Ali said “We are not reckless, we have never been reckless,” as he continued his debate to defend the administration’s proposed spending measures.
Ali’s comments led the members of the Opposition to cloud the House with laughter as they challenged his comments with contrary statements.
One MP could be heard saying “you mean the Ministers are of sober conduct.”
The dismissed Trinidadian Minister was accused of assaulting his former girlfriend. Only five days ago, the Prime Minister had dismissed her Minister of the People and Social Development for his unruly behaviour onboard a Caribbean Airlines flight. He was accused of touching the breast of a flight attendant.
