[www.inewsguyana.com] – A nominal fee will be charged by the National Parks Commission for vendors and vehicles into the Botanical Gardens and the Northern side of the Joe Vieira Park on Easter Monday, April 06.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment’s Protected Areas Commission, says these fees will be used for maintenance and to offset expenses incurred in cleaning the Gardens and Parks following Easter Monday activities.
A media release from the Ministry added that the Botanical Gardens and Zoo from the Vlissengen Road Gates will be opened to vehicular traffic from 7AM until 17:30 hrs. All vehicles will have to exit the gardens using the Mandela Avenue gates.
The release added that the Vlissengen Road Gates will be closed at 17:30 hrs and all vehicles must exit the Gardens via the Mandela Avenue Gates by 18:30 hrs.Vehicles will not be allowed to use the Mandela Avenue Gates for entrance into the gardens nor will vehicles be allowed on or in front of the Zoo access road.
While at the Joe Vieira Park – West Coast Demerara, the gates will be open to vehicular traffic from 07:30 AM.
In an effort to deter patrons from littering, additional trash receptacles and bags will be made available at these locations and, “patrons are asked to dispose of their waste in these receptacles. Park Volunteers will be present to answer questions and provide garbage bags where available,” the release added.
