[www.inewsguyana.com] – A minibus conductor was today placed before the court for threatening to chop a Police Officer. Twenty – year – old Jamol Holder of Ruimveldt Georgetown pleaded not guilty to the charge before Magistrate Judy Latchman.
It is alleged that on July 29 at Cornhill Street Georgetown he made use of threatening behaviour against Police Officer Jamol Fowler. Holder was represented by Attorney – at – law Paul Fung – A – Fat who made an application for bail noting that his client, who was conducting a bus at the time of the incident had a misunderstanding with the complainant.
According to the lawyer, his client told the complainant who was in plain clothes to ‘shift down’ and after he refused to do so, the accused threatened to chop him.
In addition, the Attorney disclosed that his client was not aware that he was speaking to a police officer at the time. The Magistrate granted bail in the sum of $80,000 and ordered that Holder return to court on October 22. [Royan Abrams]
