[www.inewsguyana.com] – Junior Kenny charged with robbery underarm was remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
The 23-year-old defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on January 13 at North East La Penitence, he being armed with a cutlass robbed from Fiona Halley a Samsung Galaxy, a Tablet, one television set and DVD together value $216,000, property of Una Halley.
Police Prosecutor, Bharat Mangru successfully objected to the pretrial freedom of the defendant citing the seriousness and prevalence of the offence. He said it is a likelihood that the defendant may tamper with the witness, since they are known to each other.
The prosecutor indicated that the defendant served a sentence at New Opportunity Corps (NOC) in Essequibo, Region 2. Kenny told the Court he previously worked in the interior. The matter will call again on February 7.
