The miner who allegedly stabbed his colleague to death following a row on October 2, 2016 was, on Wednesday morning, remanded to prison when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court to answer to the charge.
Jumar Ralph, 26, of Haslington, East Coast Demerara was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on the day in question at Sand Hills, Cuyuni Mazaruni, Region Seven, the accused stabbed 32-year-old Richard Anthony Culpepper to death.
Ralph’s matter was transferred to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court where he is expected to appear on May 31, 2017.
INews had previously reported that on the day in question, Culpepper was involved in a heated argument with Ralph at a shop in Sand Hills Landing, Puruni. Ralph reportedly grabbed a knife and stabbed Culpepper several times about his body, then fled the scene.
It was only recently that police caught up with Ralph since he went into hiding immediately after the killing.
