Twenty – two – year old Keith Wallerson of Golden Grove, West Coast Berbice, drowned, after the boat he was in, capsized in the Cuyuni River.
According to the police, about 8:00h on Saturday August 17, the police at Aranka received a report that Wallerson was crossing the Cuyuni River when the incident occurred.
Police stated that a search party that included police ranks subsequently found the body of Wallerson in the Cuyuni River at about 13:00h on Saturday.
The body bore no visible marks of violence and is at the Lyken Funeral Palour awaiting a post mortem examination.
Additionally, the police also debunked the article which appeared in today’s edition of the Stabroek News under the headline, “Miner stabbed to death at Aranka.”
Police stated that Wallerson was never stabbed.
