Donston John, also known as “Rambo”, 59, of St Francis Mission, Mahaicony River, was on Wednesday crushed to death by falling rocks at Whitewater Mountain.
On the day question, John and another man began working as punters with a three inch pump and their detectors at around 10:00hrs.
They were later joined by two other punters.
While they were working at the edge of a hill, several big rocks began to fall.
The other men managed to escape, but John did not.
When the men returned to the scene and proceeded to dig the pit with spades, they found the lifeless body of John at around 22:00hrs.
The police were summoned and visited the scene and afterwards escorted the body to Mahdia Regional Hospital.
Investigations are ongoing.
